Vintage Book Garland

A few weeks ago I entered to win this super cute vintage book garland from Yellow Bird, Yellow Beard (shop) over on Whimsical Poppysmic. I was so stoked to find out that I won!

It is sooo long, there are about 100 of those little paper circles. I know because I counted to make sure when I hung them that each loop would be nice and even. The picture in my apartment makes it seem like they blend right into the walls. My walls aren't white, they're more of this off white/very, very pale yellow color. They don't blend in at all though. They look so cute hanging up and they replaced my Christmas bunting perfectly!!

Also...look how cute the return address stamp is!

Thanks so much Chrissy and Janee for this awesome giveaway!

Everyone have an awesome weekend!

Hand Made Dish Cloths

Last week I entered a giveaway over on Simply Kelly Designs blog. She was giving away 3 crocheted dishcloths made by Karma Crochet. I wanted them so badly I entered a bazillion times and it paid off!! I won these beauties and they arrived in the mail yesterday.

via

The colors are so pretty and summery and I really love the idea of reusing dishcloths to wash my dishes instead of sponges that just get thrown away. I can just toss these guys into the laundry once in a while and they'll be good as new! It took a minute to get used to using the dishcloth instead of a smaller sponge but I got the hang of it.
You guys should start washing your dishes with reusable dishcloths as well. It's better for the environment plus you can support crafty chics like Patrica who make them or for my crochet friends, you can make your own!

Giveaway!!

So my loverly friends of blogland I decided that is about time I show you some gratitude by giving away a handmade bunting by ME to YOU!

I don't think I have said it enough but this blog really makes me so happy and means a lot to me! It gives me motivation to keep crafting, reading, set and accomplish goals AND the best part...I have met so many wonderful friends!! I just want you all to know how much it means to me that you take time out of your own life to take a peek into mine, seriously...it means so much to me!!

I saw this fabric at Joanns when it was still winter and I fell in love. It made me so happy and long for spring!! I loved it so much that I didn't even really want any other fabric incorporated. I did look but I just wasn't happy with the way any other fabrics looked together. After I sewed it all together I felt it was missing something though or a bit plain maybe. I found some adorable green leaf buttons but they didn't really show up too well with the green bias tape I used. Soooo....after some thinking it dawned on me CROCHETED FLOWERS, duh!! I have a butt load of buttons handed down to me from my mom and I found a bunch of different yellows ones that I used as the centers. I love these buntings so much, they are so springy and wonderful to look at. I made two of them so TWO of you can win!!!

All you have to be is a follower of my blog with either Google or Bloglovin and leave a comment telling me what you have planned for the month of May, it's that simple! You can earn extra entries by posting about this giveaway somewhere else, your blog, twitter (mention @jamietoohey), facebook, wherevs just so long as you leave a separate comment and a link it'll count.
So my darlings...I figure there is no better way to start the weekend than with a giveaway!!
I'll pick two winners at random next Friday, May 6th (I can't freaking believe it will be May already!!)

Good Luck!!

I won (another one)!

Last week the wonderful and lovely Miss Cuppy had a giveaway for a few products from reuseit.com and I won!!!
I was so stoked ESPECIALLY for the shopping totes. I like to think I'm pretty concious of reducing, reusing and recycling but I never did get on the whole reusable shopping bag band wagon. I have a Brita water filter in my refridgerator (that, soy milk and beer is all that's ever in my fridge, Jeremy hates it. He wants soda or iced tea but I won't drink it so I don't buy it! Plus lugging those bottles up 3 flights of stairs with my other groceries would be murder!!) I have a bottle I bring to work everyday filled with water that way I'm not buying and throwing away bottles. I also make my own coffee at home in the morning and I have a cute little travel mug that I use. (Also, supplying my own water and coffee is MASSIVELY cheaper than buying it in the cafe at work, the vending machines, Wawa, Starbucks, etc.) I know most of the reason I never had any reusable shopping totes came from a part of me that would say "I'm not gonna buy one, I can just make one." but I never actually did, which is pretty ridiculous and embarassing!
I am super, super excited to use everything so let me show you what I got!!

The shopping totes are already in my car so I have them on hand any time I go into a store.

I love the notes about why everyone should have reusable totes in the area where plastic bags say they are hazardous and not toys.

How adorable is this "paper" bag and the napkins?!?

I'm leaving one of the napkins at work and the other three at home for Jeremy and I to use during dinner. I don't want to use the lunch bag for my actual lunch though because A. I bring my own cereal and milk in separate tupperwares to work every day and sometimes the milk leaks out a little bit and I don't want to ruin the bag (I do have a lunch box though, no bags!) and B. This bag is so cute, if I were to leave it in the refridgerator at work I know someone would steal it. Seriously...people steal shit all the time at my job, it's insane. Especally when it comes to food! A lady I used to sit next to brought in half a stromboli that she had eaten for dinner the night before and someone took it!! One of our managers had tuna in a tupperware and the bread in separate bags so he could make the sandwich when he was ready and it wouldn't be soggy...someone stole the bread!! I had someone go in my drawer, in my purse, in my wallet and steal $30!!! Needless to say that was in the very beginning of me working there and I take my purse everywhere with me and lock my drawers now but...I work with some scummy people! Enough of that rant! I will be finding something more adorable and useful for this bag (tote around crafts maybe?...yes!)

Here is my new water bottle that will be replacing my plastic one. It's so nice and sturdy and I love that it says "this is not a plastic bottle". This little black bag had a tag saying it is for Pet Toys/Stuff. However, my snake doesn't really have toys/stuff that I would be carrying around, hehe! Instead I am going to use it to put all of my mini reuseable bottles of shampoo, body wash, contact case, toothpaste, etc. for when we go camping.

I am so incredibly happy with everything!! I talked with Natalie at reuseit.com after I won and she was extremely nice and shipped everything out the same day! Please visit their website and purchase a few things that I'm sure you can find good use for and possibly replace some not so good things you are currently using. Honestly, we as humans have done so much harm to our planet and it is the only one we have. It breaks my heart to know that there are so many little, simple changes every person could make to help but don't because they won't change their habits. I'm not very good with words but my Aunt Stephanie is. She won an Earth Day Photo Contest (go look at the picture, she is an amazing photographer as well) that cafepress.com had last year and she really summed it up "The Big Blue marble is our home: Mother Earth sustains us and we should live in balance with her."

Thank you Cuppy for this amazing giveaway and thank you reuseit.com for all that you do!!

Psst...Check back tomorrow because I am having a giveaway of my own!!!

I won!

Last month Kam had a spectacular March Mega Sponsor Giveaway! I won a custom 4" cursive typewriter hoop from Ruggles Stitch. I was able to select my own quote and Alexia typed it up for me. She even painted the hoop Kelly Green for me! My quote wasn't very long so she suggested a 3" hoop instead and I am sure glad she did. It arrived in the mail yesterday and I am LOVING it!!
The quote is from the Blind Melon song "Change" and means a lot to me.
One of my 2011 Craft Goals is to start a Hoop Love wall of my own and this bad boy is going right up on it!

I hope you all have a lovely Tuesday, we are having some craptastic weather here. Rain and Grey skies, bleh!

"Bobbing Along..."

First off...welcome new friends! I've had it in the back of my mind that when I reached 50 followers I would have another giveaway and somehow you all snuck up on me =D
So now I will be thinking of something to make for you! I really want a new springy bunting like the one I made for Christmas. Would that be lame if I gave away the same sort of thing as I did last time?
Hmmm...my thinking cap is on!

Anyway...did anyone see the Supermoon on Saturday? Holy Moly it was beautiful!! There wasn't a cloud in the sky here in PA so we had a stunning view of it all night!

via

On Sunday when I was looking up pictures of it online I learned something so silly that I wanted to share with everyone!
Ever since we were little, my sister and I have been obsessed with the movie Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Have you ever seen it?! It is AMAZING! I seriously watch it like once a month still. The spell that Ms. Price recites to try to turn people into toads (but they always end up turning into a nice, white rabbit) is "Filigree, apogee, pedigree, perigee!" I know what Filigree and Pedigree mean and I always just assumed the other words were some weird Britsh thing, haha! WELL! Turns out apogee and perigee refer to the distance from the Earth to the moon. Apogee is the furthest point from the earth. Perigee is the closest point to the earth and is when the moon appears larger, supermoon!
So...just a little fun face that I thought I would share, I love when I learn weird little things like that!

Have a lovely second day of Spring!

What happened to that 6th bunting? I'm sure you're asking yourself!

Well...I decided since I have won two blog giveaways, it was about time I returned the love.

So...
I have another bunting that I made, with little snowflake buttons as an added detail that you can have for your very own!
It is 4 1/2 feet long and the triangles are about 8 inches long.

All you have to do to win this is be a follower of my blog and post a comment here telling me your favorite Christmas movie. You can even get an extra entry if you mention this giveaway on your blog with a link to it in the comment you leave me.
Yup, it's that easy peasy!
I will pick the winner next Wednesday 12/8/10.

This is the exact bunting I will mail you.

Fanciest Spider Web EVER!

Over in my i heart fall class I won a giveaway!! The lovely Janel took doilys, put them in an embroidery hoop and added a little spider. Boom...cutest and fanciest spider web I've ever seen. This was the giveaway I wanted to win the most and I was soo soooo happy to learn that I did. I receieved this adorable guy in the mail yesterday (I looove getting mail) and immediately found a new home for him.
I think this is the cutest idea. This year at the VNA Sale, there was a whole pile of doilys that I was looking at but put back because I thought to myself "What are you gonna do with these, they're just going to collect dust?!" Needless to say I am kicking myself for not buying at least 2 or 3. Next year I want to make a whole bunch of these to hang around for Halloween!

In his new home...

I wish Halloween wasn't over =(

I wanna win!

So I know I haven't posted in a while. I've been working on this MASSIVE cross stitch for Jeremy so I haven't compelted anything in a while.
BUT
Over on The Dainty Squid's blog she is having a giveaway from Omerica Organic. I looove this company, their plugs are all soo beautiful!

9.01.2010

My Plugs Arrived!!

Yay!!
Yesterday morning on my way out the door to work there was my package with my new earrings that I won in The Dainty Squids Giveaway!!
I tried to get pictures of them but the glare was ridiculous or they were too washed out to see the music notes so this picture is from Ark's Endeavors etsy shop.
The backs are red so it's like I got two for one, woot!!

They are so lovely and I'm so happy with them!!
Thank you Dainty Squid and Ark's Endeavors!!

I Won!

So last week I posted about a giveaway I entered over on The Dainty Squid's blog for a free custom pair of plugs made by Ark's Endeavors. I went onto my blog this morning to see what any of the blogs I follow have posted over the weekend and I see that she posted the winner. I also saw that the name of the winner was "Jamie" and I got pretty excited but I told myself it's probably not me. Out of the hundreds of comments she got there's bound to be more than one Jamie. I clicked on the link and it went to my blog, WOOOTT!! I won!
I've never won anything before and this is the first blog giveaway I've entered, I'm so excited!!
Thank you Dainty Squid!!
This couldn't have come at a better time because on Friday I was looking at plugs on Etsy and swooning over all of them. I ordered a pair for Jeremy (he doesn't really do the whole interent thing) and I had to restrain myself from ordering any for myself.
Now I won't have to!

8.17.2010

Giveaway!

I follow a fabulous blog The Dainty Squid and she is currently having a Giveaway for a pair of custom plugs from Ark's Endeavors.
She makes lovely custom plugs, I especially love the "Music in My Ears" ones and the Vintage Sewing Machines (alas my ears are not big enough for them). I would love to win this giveaway, I don't have nearly enough jewelry for my ears...just tons of boring steel tunnels or black plugs.
Fingers Crossed!!
