May Goals Recap

I'm pretty satisfied with everything I got accomplished this month!

I really need to get better at cooking myself meals. I go through spurts where I will cook lots of awesome meals but right now I am in a total rut. I think it might have something to do with the swaps. All I wanted to do when I got home was work on these projects. Cooking seemed like such a waste of time. I've just been eating lots of pasta, soup, mac & cheese, nothing exciting. Do you have any awesome easy and cheap recipes? Or do you follow any foodie blogs? I think I only follow one but it's all desserts, I need more meals!

Also, May freaking FLEW by!!

List 18

This list is SUCH perfect timing!

As you read this Jeremy and I already left this morning for North Springfield, PA. Totally random sounding, I know. It is right on Lake Erie and we are staying at Virginia's Beach campground. It is a 6 1/2 hour drive but it will be totally worth it! Look at this quote from their site "Because our shoreline faces the northwest we have an incredible view of the sunset. Rated #2 behind Hawaii by National Geographic!" I mean that's pretty freaking awesome! Our campsite is right in the woods and pretty secluded from other people. Jeremy keeps refering to this trip as "Our Lover's Retreat", he's so goofy sometimes!

We went on one other road trip together 2 years ago that lasted 8 days. We went out to Cleveland, down to Nasvhille and Memphis, through Mississippi to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, over to South Carolina and back to PA. It was amazing and we had so much fun together. I love being in the car with him. We sing and dance and act like total fools. Last time we brought Uncle John's Bathroom Reader: Plunges into History We would read to each other for a while and learn all kinds of cool stuff. He has another one we are bringing this trip.

One of the days we will be taking a mini road trip into Ohio to go to Cedar Point amusement park. That will be about a two hour drive but we have no other plans for that day and we both love a good roller coaster!

I am super duper excited, we planned this about a month and half ago and it has taken forever to get here! I won't be home until Monday and posting until Tuesday so I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and if you are in the states a happy long Memorial Day weekend!

CAMP ON!

Another Book Review: Bossypants

This month's Book Club book was Bossypants by Tina Fey. I don't think I ever watched SNL when she was on it and I've never watched 30 Rock. Not on purpose or anything, I just never have. I did see 'Date Night' though with Steve Carell and thought it was pretty funny. Of course I also saw a lot of her Sarah Palin impressions when that was going on.

This book was flat out HILARIOUS. I laid in bed the last two nights reading this book and was laughing hysterically. Yes, I read this book in two nights. She just has a really great sense of humor, bitchy, straight forward, self-deprecating, raunchy, and all my favorite kinds of humor! I was never one of those "drama kids" in school. I was in two plays but that was just something to do after school. My friends and I weren't those kids whose whole life is acting and they want to be on Broadway or go to Hollywood and what not. It seems like Tina was definitely that kind of kid. It was cool to see how she took things she learned from acting camp and improv to help her in other aspects of life.

I've never identified myself as a Feminist. I mean I'm pretty sure I have quite a few qualities and beliefs that my fellow woman has but I never labeled myself. I've never been big on labels, it's too much pressure. I really enjoyed reading her take on motherhood, being a working mom and what it is like being a woman in a man's world especially career wise. It was really awesome actually.

I highly recommend this book. It was a light, funny read but also pretty inspiring. I am now a huge Tina Fey fan!

Happy Thursday my darlings!

Book Review: The Sea-Hawk

The Sea-Hawk by Rafael Sabatini was last months Book Club book. I finally finished it Sunday night (yeah 3 weeks late) and I really loved it! It's about a man, Sir Oliver who is accused of killing his girlfriend's brother. He is actually covering for his own brother, Lionel who was the murderer. Lionel has Oliver kidnapped and enslaved on a ship. While a slave on this Spanish ship, Oliver becomes a Muslim. His ship is raided by Barbary pirates, they free him from being a slave because he is now Muslim like them and he becomes a pirate. Years later he goes back and kidnaps his girlfriend to only find out that she is now married to his brother!
The book was written in 1915 so you can imagine the language is quite a bit different than modern novels.

"Sakr-el-Bahr (this is Sir Oliver's new name), scimitar in hand, stood on the prow, a little in advance of the mob of eager babbling corsairs who surrounded him, quivering in their impatience to be let loose upon the Christian foe. Above, along the yardarm and up the ratlines swarmed his bowmen. From the mast-head floated out his standard, of crimson charged with a green crescent."

This book was really exciting and everything you would expect from a Pirate novel. Lots of fighting at sea, slaves, kidnapping, Muslims vs. Christians, etc. In the beginning it was a little hard to get used to the language and I didn't know all the words that were being used. I just looked up the words (corsair for example is just another word for pirate) and let myself be taken into this pirate world! All in all I really loved this book!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Side Note...

I got a massive amount of tattooing done yesterday (well massive to me anyway)! It is a rib piece and we are half way done. I feel slightly awkward posting this pictute because you can see a lot of my body but it is the best one without a lot of side boob action! It's still really red here, I mean this is like 3 minutes after we stopped!

So far I have a tree, a huge great horned owl on a branch who's eyes I am in love with (the photo does not do it justice), the moon and some bats. It's badass! There is really no other way of explaing it =D You can't really see the moon in this picture, it's sort of on my back and with how red I am it didn't photograph too well.
I have other tattoos but they are all small. I have a celtic knot on my upper back, a fleur de lis on my wrist and a shamrock on my ankle. I was entirely prepared for this to be pure torture and it pretty much was. There was one point that I thought I was going to fall asleep though! Jesse (my tattoo artist) was in the zone, metal was on the radio and I was just so relaxed!
I sat for 2 1/2 hours and both Jesse and another guy in the shop were impressed with how I "sat like a champ" LOL and that I never asked for a break. We did take one break so Jesse could eat some lunch though. They were so nice too because I was laying there with only my shirt covering my boobs so they put a big screen up around us so that no one else could see me. At first I felt bad to jam up their shop like that but then after everyone came in to work there were about 6 other dudes in the shop and a lot of customers coming and going, I would have felt SO uncomfortable.

I also was so happy with how stoked Jesse is about this tattoo. He does a lot of dark, evil shit and biomechanical stuff (seen here) so I was afraid he might think an owl, night, graveyard scene was a little lame. Turns out he loves owls so...he was very psyched!
My next appointment to finish it isn't until September because he is all booked up but he said after a month when this is healed, if he gets any openings he will call me. Last night he was already sending me ideas for how to finish it! I have been waiting 4 years to get this done and now that it is finally happening, I am so happy! To have an artist who is so into it too is really making this experience all the better!!

Introducing...

I've been inspired by a number of posts I've read recently to introduce you all to Jeremy. I mention him constantly and I thought maybe you guys would like a little info on how we met and became Us.

We met through a mutual friend. Jeremy and Bryan worked together and Bryan and I were friends. Friday October 3rd, 2008 (yeah, I know the exact day) Bryan was coming over with a friend of his visiting from North Carolina. We had no real plans other than just hang out on the deck with my sister Jessie and drink. Earlier in the day Bryan texted me to ask if he could also bring a friend from work over. I told him of course because anyone he is friends with is probably awesome.

I still remember when Jeremy walked in the door, he was so cute. Tall, dark and handsome! He had on a Famous hoodie with the hood up, a cruded up pair of jeans and sneakers. It may be weird but...I love when guys are dirty. Like construction workers, roofers, mechanics, I don't care. There's something so manly about a guy covered in dirt! He is a machinist so he gets pretty dirty at work.

We ended up sitting on my porch the entire night talking about horror movies. Literally, like 6 hours talking about any and every horror movie. It was fantastic and I was completely smitten <3

The next night Jessie and I had plans to go to a haunted house with Bryan and his girlfriend to start off the Halloween season. During the day I texted Bryan and told him he should invite Jeremy. So that night the 5 of us piled in Jessie's car and drove up to the haunted house. This was only a few months after my accident and I was still supposed to be using crutches. I didn't want to be "that girl with crutches" though so I just hobbled around the whole place. I couldn't walk very fast and Jeremy hung back with me so I wasn't alone. Eventually I had a really hard time walking anymore so he gave me a piggy back ride. First he dropped me which I still bring up because it's hilarious that he dropped a crippled girl! But then he carried me all around the rest of the night. Afterward we ended up at Bryan's house just hanging out and Jeremy asked for my number!!

That Sunday Bryan was at our apartment. He came over almost every Sunday, he would bring us hoagies and we would just veg out and watch tv. Like I said, this was right after my accident and we partied in our apartment pretty much every weekend. Sundays were days to recooperate. I didn't ever care if I wasn't showered or just in pajamas in front of Bryan, he was just Bryan. I wasn't trying to impress him and he certainly didn't care. So here we are all about to chow down on these hoagies and Bryan asks if it is ok that he invited Jeremy over. I of course perked up, said yes and asked when he would be coming. Bryan said in about 20 minutes. I freaked out!! I tried to quickly shower, put on my face and dry my hair all before he got there. This is clearly an impossible task and I ended up trying to walk out of my room all nonchalant when he was already there, doh!

Over the next few weeks we were practically attached at the hips. He worked third shift, 2pm - 10pm and I worked 8am - 5pm. After I got out of work I would go home, nap, wake up, shower and hang out with him after he was out of work. We hung out at the bar down the street and played pool, watched movies or tv, went out to eat, etc. It was fantastic and needless to say, we grew closer every day. We also went on a road trip together that February. Everyone said we were nuts to be stuck in a car with a person we had only been dating 5 months. Those people were all wrong because we had an amazing time and even better memories of it!!

I am the luckiest girl alive. He is my rock, my lil' lover face, my everything. I am a better person when I am with him and he encourages and supports me in anything I do. He spoils me rotten and he is my best friend (next to Liz of course). I can not imagine being as happy as I am now and so madly in love with someone.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures of us over the years...

This is the first picture taken of us. That's me, Jeremy and Bryan (making a lovely face) while playing drinking games in Bryan's basement.

Here we are on our road trip at the New Orleans Aquarium the day after Mardi Gras.

Dancing at my dear friend Katie & Scott's wedding. Jeremy is an AWESOME dancer, it's one of my favorite things about him!

Halloween 2 years ago. Liz made her own Dinosaur costume, I was Little Dead Riding Hood and Jeremy was Waldo.

Us floating down the Delaware River last summer.

This is my all time favorite picture of the two of us. We were in a Karaoke Bar at the Tropicana in Atlantic City for Kristin's birthday last July. I don't know why but sometimes he hugs me and puts all his weight on me until I start collapsing...this is what is happening here. I just love our faces though!

I had to restrain myself from posting more pictures. I have a knack for getting Jeremy to stick is head in things or put things on his head and letting me take pictures of him. He would NOT be a happy camper if I posted all those on here though!
Anyway, I hope you liked seeing a bit more about my other half. Have a great day my dears!
